Key Point Academy Expands Pre-K–12 Footprint With New 90,000-Square-Foot Downtown Miami Campus
MIAMI, FL, UNITED STATES, August 19, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Key Point Academy has expanded its educational footprint in South Florida with the opening of a new more than 90,000-square-foot campus in Downtown Miami, positioning the school to serve students from Pre-K through 12th grade from a single urban location.
The new campus at 1501 Biscayne Boulevard represents the largest physical expansion in Key Point Academy’s 13-year history and follows a multimillion-dollar redevelopment of the former Miami International University of Art and Design property.
Approximately 62,000 square feet of the campus’ ground-floor space has been approved to accommodate up to 600 students. Key Point Academy has also secured an additional 28,000 square feet for future expansion as the institution continues to develop its academic programs and student capacity.
The expansion reflects the changing needs of Downtown Miami and surrounding communities, where residential development has brought more families into areas traditionally known primarily for business, tourism and commercial activity.
“Miami is growing, and with that growth comes a responsibility to make sure families have access to the services and infrastructure they need,” said Damian Pardo, City of Miami Commissioner for District 2 and Chair of the Omni Community Redevelopment Agency.
Pardo joined Key Point Academy leadership, families and community members for the official ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the opening of the campus.
“We have so many families moving to Miami, which is a great thing because now everybody wants to live here, but we have to adjust to that. We have to build to that. We have to provide services for that,” Pardo said during the event.
The Downtown location gives Key Point Academy proximity to residential and business districts including Brickell, Edgewater, Downtown Miami and nearby communities, while allowing the school to consolidate a broader range of grade levels and educational programs within one campus.
For Maria Cristina Marcos, CEO and co-founder of Key Point Academy, the expansion represents the next stage of an institution that began in Brickell in 2013.
“Thirteen years ago, we began our journey with a dream: a dream to create a school where every child feels known, supported, challenged, and inspired to reach their fullest potential,” Marcos said.
“This beautiful new home represents so much more than a building. It represents 13 years of hard work, growth, dedication, and most importantly, the trust of the families who have believed in us along the way.”
The campus has been developed to support both traditional academics and technology-driven learning. Facilities include a television and media production studio, professional music recording studio, innovation lab, makerspace, indoor multipurpose gym and rooftop green space.
Academic programming includes coding, robotics, engineering and artificial intelligence through the school’s STEAM curriculum. Students also have access to instruction in Spanish, French, Italian and Portuguese.
Key Point Academy maintains an approximately 8-to-1 student-teacher ratio.
Upper School students are also able to earn college credits through a dual-enrollment partnership with Miami Dade College, allowing eligible students to begin completing college-level coursework while enrolled in high school.
The expansion creates a continuous Pre-K through 12th-grade pathway within Key Point Academy, allowing students to progress through elementary, middle and high school within the same educational community.
Founded by Maria Cristina Marcos and Claudiane Moraes, Key Point Academy is globally accredited by Cognia and is part of Affinitas Education, an international education group that includes more than 30 private and bilingual schools across Europe and the Americas.
With the opening of the Biscayne Boulevard campus, Key Point Academy is expanding both its physical capacity and academic infrastructure as Downtown Miami continues its evolution into a more residential, family-oriented urban community.
