Register Now for November Spanish Advanced Leadership Class
As our membership continues to grow and diversify, the IAM’s Spanish Advanced Leadership Class encourages members to step up and take on greater leadership roles – building the confidence and skills needed to better represent, advocate for, and stand alongside every member on the job.
The next Spanish Advanced Leadership Class will be held from November 15-20, 2026, at the William W. Winpisinger Education and Technology Center. The program is open to IAM members and staff who have completed Spanish Leadership I and Spanish Leadership II.
The deadline to register for this class is October 16.
Members interested in attending should contact their Local President, Business Representative, or General Chair as soon as possible.
Fluency in Spanish is not required, but some understanding of the language is helpful. Members who have taken leadership classes in English and have a working knowledge of Spanish are welcome to participate.
Openings remain available for this Spanish Leadership program – and participation does not count against your Local’s regular Leadership school allotment.
While all classroom instruction, books, and materials are presented in Spanish, the curriculum mirrors the content of the English Leadership programs. The focus is on building leadership skills while strengthening our ability to connect with Spanish-speaking members and communities.

The Spanish-language programs at the Winpisinger Center are coordinated and developed by the Spanish Language Working Group (SLWG), which is composed of IAM staff and members. The program covers a wide range of subjects designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary for effective union leadership. Some of the topics include labor history, parliamentary procedure in local administration, the role of the steward, human rights, the importance of organizing, and government and politics.

Since its inception, the Spanish Leadership Program has been founded in inclusivity. It creates a welcoming space for members who may face language barriers, while also encouraging participants who simply have the desire to engage and stand in solidarity with our siblings whose primary language is Spanish.
The IAM continues to lead the labor movement in offering comprehensive education and leadership development in multiple languages, ensuring that no worker is left behind. Through programs in English, Spanish, and French, the IAM provides every member with the tools and knowledge to grow, organize, and advance within our union and the broader movement for working people.
